Moussaka Classic / Yummy Recipe

Moussaka is a classic recipe that is very delicious and easy to make by baking using oven. It’s often prepared in Europe households on special occasions and big family meals. Always simmer the sauce over low heat until it has reduced. Depending on your preferences you can add more spices for fuller taste.

Ingredients:

Olive oil
1 onion
500 g minced meat
salt
pepper
150 ml water
Bay leaf
1 kg of potatoes
2 eggs
1 tablespoon of flour
200 ml of milk
1 red pepper

1. Use a medium-large pot to heat the oil and add chopped onions. Cook onions until softened. Stir in the mince breaking it up with a wooden or silicone spoon. Add salt, pepper, water and bay leaf. Simmer with the lid on for about 30 minutes or until most of the juices have evaporated.

2. Slice potatoes into half a finger width and salt them.

3. In a large bowl whisk eggs. Add flour and milk and whisk until smooth.

4. Oil the bottom of a baking dish and layer the potatoes first. Spread out meat and some fine chopped red pepper. Top with some egg mixture. Repeat layering step one more time. Pour the remain egg mixture on top of potatoes and bake at preheated oven at 170°C for 50 minutes.
